Just because the weather outside is frightful, doesn’t mean your skin has to suffer. It is important to give special attention to your skin to keep it hydrated and smooth during these frigid winter months.

Switch To A Soft Cleanser
Cleansers that foam and bubble might seem fun, but they may not be the ideal wintertime cleanser. During the cold months of winter, it is best to use a gentle gel or cream cleanser that applies more similar to lotion. This prevents your skin from being stripped of natural oils.

Exfoliate Sparingly
It can be tempting to exfoliate any scaly, dry skin away during the winter, but too much exfoliating will leave skin raw and irritated. During these cold months, limit your exfoliating to once a week (or even less if you have sensitive skin). It is also recommended to use a gentle exfoliant and follow with a hydrating face mask.

Pack on the Moisture
Since the cold air dries out your skin quickly, the best thing you can do for your skin is to constantly moisturize. If you want smooth skin, look for face and body lotions that are packed with natural oils. To maximize your skin’s moisture intake, be sure to apply lotions and crèmes as soon as you step out of the shower, while your skin is still slightly damp. The heat and moisture of the shower unlocks your pores and cleans before application.
